Capoeira Mandinga Shanghai’s second annual Batizado and Troca de Corda will take place on Saturday, September 12th. Following our massive success and vibrant performances at 2008’s inaugural Batizado at Lakeville Regency, Capoeira Mandinga Shanghai will be holding another visual and fun-filled event for 2009’s 2nd Annual Batizado and Troca de Corda.

On a sadder note, we have some capoeiristas leaving us next week, so there will be a few going-away rodas … Try and come to play with these folk one last time.

Hello everyone!

We will be performing at the LGBT Pride event on Saturday, June 13th at the Cotton’s on Xinhua Lu (294 Xinhua Lu, near Fanyu Lu).

They’re expecting around 500 people to attend, so it will be a great opportunity for us to promote capoeira … and it should also be lots of fun! We’re on at 3 – please wear your whites, bring your instruments and lots of energy. We can all go together to class at Zhongshan Park afterwards.

Hey all!

Our friends in Beijing are having their first workshop from the evening of June 4th (thursday) until the evening of June 8th (monday). Price is 500 RMB for all 5 days, or 300 if you can only go for the weekend. The workshop will be with professor Chumbinho from Grupo Brasil Hong Kong.

Capoeira events are a great time and I would highly recommend attending if you can. Please let us know if you’re going so we can give them lots of notice to arrange housing

We’ll be having some dinners, some parties, a BBQ or two and not to mention enough roda’s to give you blisters. On your hands.

Chumbinho will bring some t-shirts, cd’s and other merchandise so bring some extra money along.

NB: the workshop costs RMB 500 for the 5 days, or 100 per day with a minimum of RMB 200.
